Amid the growing challenges of climate change and resource depletion, the search for innovative and sustainable solutions is no longer just a priority—it has become a necessity. Recognizing this urgency, Viettel, a leading technology and telecommunications company in Vietnam, has proactively partnered with SBVN to organize a knowledge-sharing session on the topic: “Understanding Net Zero and Energy-Efficient Buildings.”
With deep expertise in the field, SBVN understands that Net Zero and energy-efficient buildings are not just goals but commitments—promises to the environment and future generations. The contributions of experts, policymakers, and business leaders play a crucial role in unlocking new opportunities and discovering advanced approaches to building sustainable communities and economies.
During two insightful sessions on February 28 and 29, 2024, SBVN and Viettel representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on critical topics such as Net Zero objectives, energy-efficient buildings, and innovative solutions to achieve these ambitious targets.

The first session opened with the theme “Roadmap to Net Zero”, presented in detail by Ms. Nguy Thị Khanh, Strategic Consultant at Green IN. Through structured analysis and practical examples, she introduced key global regulations and action plans, illustrating an effective and sustainable pathway towards achieving Net Zero.

Following this, Ms. Le Gia Thanh Truc, Carbon Market Analyst, led an insightful session on “The Carbon Credit Market and Key Considerations.” She provided an in-depth analysis of the carbon credit market, highlighting its key aspects, challenges, and opportunities for businesses and policymakers looking to participate in this evolving sector.
The discussions from both speakers not only clarified the complexities of Net Zero but also provided a solid foundation and actionable guidance for advancing towards the Net Zero 2050 goal:
- Understanding Net Zero: Key concepts and its necessity
- Global and Vietnam’s Roadmap to Net Zero
- International and Vietnamese policies on energy efficiency
- Carbon credit market: Opportunities and challenges
Continuing the journey of acquiring new knowledge and experiences in sustainable construction, the second session on February 29, 2024, delved into “Energy-Efficient Buildings.” The presence of two distinguished speakers from Edeec, who are also key members of SBVN, made the session even more valuable and engaging.

Mr. Trần Thành Vũ, Founder & Director of Edeec and President of IBPSA-VN, shared in-depth knowledge and practical experiences in designing energy-efficient buildings. He introduced cutting-edge technologies and strategies for optimizing energy use in construction projects, backed by real-world case studies. His presentation emphasized the importance of integrating energy efficiency considerations into design and construction processes, from material selection to HVAC system design (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).

Mr. Trịnh Cao Nguyên, a Green Building Engineer, elaborated on the significance and benefits of green building practices. He emphasized resource optimization, emissions reduction, and the creation of healthy living and working environments. Notably, he provided a comprehensive overview of widely recognized green building certifications, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and LOTUS (Vietnam Green Building Council’s Rating System). His session detailed evaluation criteria, certification processes, and the advantages these certifications bring to construction projects and communities.

The insights and messages shared during these sessions provided not only valuable information for experts and managers but also motivation to drive the development of a greener and more sustainable industry. SBVN hopes that by introducing practical and fundamental knowledge on Net Zero—an emerging yet crucial topic—Viettel will continue making steady strides toward achieving its sustainability and Net Zero ambitions
